Christ the King Elementary: Eco-Challenge for Primary Students

Project details

During the Earth Week competition, Mrs. Woods' class did the following:

  • Participated in the Lights Off activity and used the poster provided to track their energy use over a 2-week period.
  • Encouraged the entire school to do the Lights Off activity and use the posters provided. Acknowledged the class in the school that managed to reduce their use of electricity the most during Earth week.
  • Completed an on-line environmental story/program called The Magical Thread.
  • Students cleaned up the garbage in the school yard on their own incentive.
  • Students begged teachers to keep their lights off.
  • Designed really fun magnets with important environmental messages.
  • Participated in a school wide book trade.
  • Made earth art.
  • Made environmental posters.
  • Completed a lesson about what the students can do at home to conserve energy.
